The Nasru-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT), has announced its readiness to host the 2021 NASFAT GAMES at Fountain University Osogbo, the Osun State capital, AMILOADED reports.
Speaking at a press conference in Osogbo on Monday, the National Youth Secretary for NASFAT, Kabir Raji, said the 2021 NASFAT Games has been slated to commence on Tuesday, 7th September to Sunday, 12th September, 2021.
According to the Raji, the competition with 8 games is expected to have no fewer than 500 athletes from 15 states of the federation.
He said, NASFAT Games is to take the youth away from substance abuse and drug abuse, get them involved and get them occupied with sporting activities. We’ve come to realized that one of the major event in the world today that unite people across borders is actually sporting activities. So in view of this, NASFAT Games at the grassroots will take the youth away from joblessness, because of, if you have any sport talent, the NASFAT in your locality gives you the platform to showcase that talent in your own branch at the grassroot level and paraventure you’re able to make it through the competitions at the preminary level, you get to the national stage, then there are more opportunities for you.
“So, NASFAT Games is actually put up to reduce the rate of crime that is going on in our society, to withdraw the youth from things that are not good in the society, get them occupied and busy with sporting activities for those that are going to emerge as winners are those that are going to get the gold medals especially.
“We’ve had plans to integrate them into the various state sport council and also push them up to some of the already made clubs, even though we also have the strategic objectives of coming up with NASFAT clubs in various games especially the football and the basketball teams.
“But before then, for any of the members or any of our team guys that is seen to have done well or performed exceptional, we are in discussion with some state sport council, we’ve discussed with the Osun State Sports Council, they are ready to integrate some of the members into the sport team of Osun State. This also apply to all other states across the federation that they are coming from.
“This second edition of NASFAT Games 2021, we are going to be having 8 games and expecting nothing less than 500 athletes from 15 states of the federation participating here in osogbo,” Raji stated.
