Teachers’ Vigilance Needed in 2018-Olawale Rasheed

A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun state ,Mr Olawale Rasheed  has called on teachers at all levels in Osun state to take serious interest in the 2018 race.

in a statement to mark the World Teachers Day,Rasheed warned that “ongoing depression and ill treatment should never divert attention from the need for eternal vigilance in future electoral choice.

“Our ill treatment by the status quo should embolden us to vote for a governorship candidate with  a pro-teacher agenda, upright antecedents and a breath of fresh air.We have a duty to actively search and support a candidate prepared without deceit to place teachers and  workers’ welfare as a starting point of governance.

Warning against complacency in the run up to next year poll,Rasheed said Osun workers including “teachers are passing through very tortuous phase of their lives “,adding that “rather than succumb to poverty weapon deployed by some politicians ,workers and teachers must rise up for liberation through the electoral process.

“Their plan is to foist a continuity of workers’ repression and generalised pauperisation. The goal  is to make us so hungry that we will take offers from political devils and evils, thereby self-condemning the state to another tenure of slavery. Resist this weapon of poverty. Let join hands to vote right and secure our liberation”,the governorship aspirant said.

Describing teaching as a noble profession, the aspirant affirmed that “effective learning cannot happen unless  teachers’ welfare is accorded prime place in school governance and administration.

” School building  even ranks third after learning materials and equipment. When you build huge buildings while neglecting teachers and learning materials ,you destroy basic ingredents of effective education system. We must return to the basic-all round care for teachers who in turn will guarantee care for students and effective learning outcome “,he said.
