11 Dead, Others Injured As Speeding Bus Crashes Into Truck

 

At least 11 persons were killed and several others injured in a ghastly motor accident that occurred in the wee hours of Sunday, in Shao, Moro Local Government Area of Kwara.

Witnesses said the accident involved a commercial bus, which rammed into an articulated vehicle around 6.35am at Shao junction.

While the corpses of the victims had been deposited at the morgue of University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, others who were reportedly injured during the incident had been admitted at other clinics and hospitals for treatment.

Confirming the incident, the Kwara State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Jonathan Owoade, attributed the incident to speeding by the bus driver.

He said, “The FRSC received a call at around 6.35am about a fatal accident involving two vehicles, a commercial bus and an articulated vehicle. It was discovered that the accident was caused by speed violation.

“Twenty persons were involved in the accident out of which 11 of them lost their lives, while others sustained injuries.

He warned commercial drivers and motorists against speed violation while driving adding that commuters should always be alert and alive to caution any over-speeding driver during journeys.
