The State Security Service (SSS) in Ogun State has detained the embattled chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area, Wale Adedayo.

His detention may not be unconnected to his allegation of diversion of local government funds by Governor Dapo Abiodun in the last two years.

Adedayo, a former Chief Press Secretary to ex-Governor Gbenga Daniel had accused Abiodun of withholding local government funds in the last two years.

Adedayo was said to have visited the SSS headquarters in Abeokuta, on Friday on invitation over the alleged ‘zero allocation’ to local governments in the state.

He was also said to have earlier visited the SSS office in Abeokuta on Thursday, over the same matter but was not detained.

Adedayo, according to a source was still being held in the custody of the Secret Service as of 8:34 p.m. on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Joint Account and Allocation Committee in Ogun State has denied the allegation of fund diversion against the state government.

Speaking at the State House of Assembly on Friday in Abeokuta, members of the committee explained that every fund approved by the committee passed through the various Local Government Council Accounts.

It will be recalled that the lawmakers on Thursday directed the Accountant General of the state, Mr. Babatunde Aregbesola and other JAAC committee members to appear before it on Friday.

The assembly said this was for clarifications over allegations of LG fund diversion against Gov. Dapo Abiodun-led administration.
