
The Special Adviser on Federal Project Implementation in Kogi State, Chief Emmanuel I. Obasi, has joined the good people of Kogi State and across the nation to congratulate and celebrate His Excellency, Governor Usman Ododo’s remarkable milestones in just one year in office.
In a statement signed and made available to newsmen by Chief Obasi on Monday, he said Governor Ododo’s administration has been a beacon of hope and transformation, with numerous achievements that have positively impacted the lives of Kogi State residents.
He added that the Governor’s commitment to education, healthcare, infrastructure development, and economic empowerment is unparalleled.
According to him, “Some of the governor’s notable achievements include the appointment of over 2000 indigenes and non-indigenes into various positions, awarding scholarships to over 8,750 Kogi State students, and enrolling 180,791 Kogites in the State Health Insurance Scheme. He has also constructed roads, bridges, and drainages, including the Hassan Katsina dual carriage way with streetlights.”
Chief Obasi urged the people of Kogi State to continue to support Governor Ododo’s administration as he strives to take the state to greater heights. He noted that the Governor’s dedication to the welfare and development of Kogi State is unwavering, and he has no doubt that his best is yet to come.

365 DAYS OF SUPERLATIVE ACHIEVEMENTS OF GOVERNOR ODODO IN KOGI STATE
No Governor in Nigeria has within one year in office achieved what Governor Ododo has achieved in one year.
A cursory look at the Administration shows that his achievements surpassed all expectations and dumbfounded political pundits in all areas:
- As one who was well prepared before coming into office, he hit the ground running from Day One. He announced and constituted the State Executive Council and appointed the Principal Officers of his government the same day he was sworn in as Governor.
- He brought so much humility, love and candour into governance and vowed to work for the good people of Kogi State everyday. His style of leadership has destroyed nepotism and sectionalism and engendered real peaceful coexistence among the various sections of the State.
- He appointed over 2000 indigenes and non indigenes as Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, Local Special Assistants and Ward Special Assistants and PAs and in other positions. He is the only Governor in Nigeria that appointed non indigenes from Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Abia,and other states etc into his Administration at the same time.
- Through constructive and resilient engagement with the Federal Government, World Bank and strategic Donor Agencies, Governor Ododo has attracted numerous Federal Government Projects to Kogi State including the 111km of Legacy Super HighWay Road project that spurs from Calabar Cross Rivers State through Ebonyi, Enugu and Benue to the nation’s capital, Abuja; the rehabilitation of dilapidated stretches of Abuja-Lokoja and Lokoja-Abuja Federal Highway from Abaji to Okene, the newly awarded contract for the rehabilitation of Kabba-Iyamoye-Omuo-Ikole-Ifaki-Ado Ekiti Road, the commencement of work on the new Federal Secretariat Complex in Lokoja, the establishment of Barefoot Institute in CUSTH, attracted 4 Speed Boats by HYPADEC, got approval for the establishment of International Airport and numerous other projects and programmes being carried out in collaboration with ACReSAL, L-Pres, RAMP and others.
- He awarded Scholarships and Bursary to over 8,750 Kogi State students studying in various Higher Institutions of learning in Nigeria.
- He created Ministry of Livestock which was not in existence before to take charge of all issues related to livestocks in the State and to tap fully from the newly established Federal Ministry of Livestocks.
- Before he came on Board only about 57,353, Kogites were enrolled in the Statel Health Insurance Scheme but under one year he raised the figure from 57,353 to 180,791, a whooping 68.3% increase capturing pensioners, orphans and less privileged people in the state.
- He was the first Governor in Nigeria to approve the implementation of the New National Minimum Wage of #72,500 above the National Minimum Wage of #70,000 paid by Federal Government to Federal workers despite that Kogi State is not an Oil Producing State.
- He was also the first Governor in Nigeria to boldly pay the new Minimum Wage above National Minimum Wage and has maintained the most beneficial cordial relationship between his administration and Kogi State civil servants at all levels.
- He was the first Governor in Nigeria to increase the Monthly Pension of retired civil servants following the implementation of the new minimum wage.
- For the past 12 months of his Administration civil and public servants in the State have been receiving their monthly salaries as and at when due sometimes on the 14th of the due month.
- Kogi State under Governor Ododo is not owing any civil servant any arrears of salaries.
- Governor Ododo has extended numerous free Medical Outreaches to every LGA across the State as part of his pledge to cater for the health needs of the people especially the people at the grassroots.
- He embarked on Erosion Control through construction of numerous roads, bridges, drainages and culverts especially around erosion prone areas.
- He constructed the best internal roads in Lokoja today including the Hassan Katsina dual carriage way and from the intersection to GYB Junction with adorable streetlights, etc
- He Commenced the Construction of Ultramodern Kogi State International Market in Lokoja.
- He has Rehabilitated the Lokoja Water Scheme and replacement of old water pipelines to make clean water available to the people.
- He has made Lokoja, the Capital City cleaner than ever before through numerous intentional policies like regular clearing of refuse dumps, drainages through the Ministry of Environment and Ecological Matters etc.
- All farmers in Kogi State are happy and smiling because Governor Ododo has made their occupation very lucrative and profitable through numerous agricultural incentives, inputs and empowerment.
Infact, the achievements of Governor Ododo in just one years in Office are too numerous to mention and for all these we are happy and proud of him and wish him more success and wins as he pilots the affairs of Kogi State.
