Aree Declares Support As Iree Progressive Association Inaugurates New Executive

The Iree Progressive Association, IPA, in Boripe Local Government area of Osun, has inaugurated a new executive.

The event was held on Saturday, January 16, 2025, at SM town hall, Iree, where the traditional ruler and dignitaries witnessed the handover.

Speaking with newsmen, the IPA’s new President, Pastor Tunde Kajogbola, stated that his new position comes with a rollercoaster of emotions, as he feels good, challenged, and disturbed. He noted that it is time for him to reenergize and reconcile different wards in Iree town.

Pastor Kajogbola said that the leadership position is a call to service. He commended his predecessor for their good work, noting that they did exceptionally well.

The new IPA President added that his administration is going to build on the solid foundation left by the past leadership.

Earlier in his speech, Pastor Kajogbola said part of his agenda is to build a commonwealth of initiatives and engagements that will benefit every member of the community through the collective effort of all Iree sons and daughters, bound by a shared vision.

According to him, “”In August 2024, when the winds of destiny ushered me into this leadership role, shock was the word that enveloped me and summarised my disbelief. It was an unexpected honour, akin to a coup de théâtre—a dramatic twist of fate that left me speechless. Why?: I had dedicated my humble energy to rallying others better-qualified than myself for the assignment. Now, per grace, I stand before you as your president. Imagine!

“This moment is not just about me. Again, it’s not just about us in the new IPA EXCO….Rather, it is about us—a collective journey of faith, purpose, and progress. *It is about Iree, a blessed valley-community cradled by ancient mountains, rocks, and hills that still whisper the living stories told and retold by our legendary forefathers.

“Our heritage is not merely a treasure but a call to action, urging us to soar higher than our forefathers ever dreamed.

“Today, we stand tall because we are supported by the pillars of our the past. We owe an immense debt of gratitude to our predecessors, whose groundwork serves as the springboard for our aspirations.

“Our agenda is clear: to build a commonwealth of initiatives and engagements that will benefit every member of our community. This is not the responsibility of one person or one executive council—it is the collective charge of all Iree sons and daughters, bound by a shared vision.”

Also speaking with journalists, the Aree of Iree, Alayeluwa (Oba) Murtala Omotayo Oyelakin Oyeku III, recounted that there was no king in Iree during the regime of the immediate past executive of IPA leadership, noting that he is going to provide necessary support for the new executive to succeed.

The monarch added that the Obaship is good, but someone needs to be patient and wise to succeed.

In his own remarks, the immediate past President of IPA, Engr. Oluwole Taiwo, said he was happy to hand over to the new executive after his tenure, adding that he is optimistic that the new executive will collaborate with the new king to record success.

Engr. Oluwole advised the new executive to treat all sensitive information with care for the progress of Iree land.
