Adeleke, Oyinlola Receive Award At Public Presentation Of Yomex As Osun Classic Lions Club President

Osun Classic Lions Club has officially presented Lion Abayomi Adegoke as its 5th President in the state for the 2024/2025 service year.

The event, tagged Annual Luncheon and Public Presentation, was held on Sunday at the OASIS event centre in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.

Delivering his speech on the act of giving, the keynote speaker, Dr Femi Adefila, noted that giving is more than offering a helping hand, as it holds the power to transform lives, inspire hope, and foster collective voice.

Dr Adefila added that giving encompasses time, effort, knowledge, compassion, and not necessarily material things.

He urged people to embrace the act of giving for impactful changes, adding that together they can rewrite stories, uplift communities, and have a legacy of hope and transformation.

In his remark, Former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who said he identified Lion Adegoke through his objective student activism, described him as one of the ‘finest presidents’ in the history of the Lions Club.

He added that Nigeria needs more purposeful clubs like the Lions Club that stand to help and uplift human beings, urging other groups to emulate the club’s good steps.

While wishing Lion Adegoke well in his leadership role, Prince Oyinlola assured him of maximum support to excel. He expressed his gratitude to the club for finding him worthy of a humanitarian award.

In his address, the Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, ably represented by Special Adviser On Ruwesa, Hon Odelade Sarafadeen Olanrewaju, said humanity has benefited immensely from Lions International projects, which include infrastructure, health, education, and empowerment, among others.

Gov Adeleke added that the giant strides of the Lions Club have complemented government efforts towards upgrading the living standards of the people, describing the club as ‘a reliable partner in progress’.

The Governor solicited more positive contributions from the people in the execution of Lions Club projects, praying that the club will continue to advance the living standards of Nigerians.

Speaking with newsmen, Lion Abayomi Adegoke, who was sworn-in in August 2024, stated that he has offered himself for the service of the people for a long time and has sacrificed a lot right from his student activism days.

Lion Abayomi who emphasized that his new leadership role is a new challenge to do more, affirmed that his administration intend to intervene in 10 communities by providing multiple water supplies, including the construction and regulation of boreholes.

He also added that the club will feed 5,000 people, while another 5,000 will benefit from the comprehensive health project of the club, while assuring district leaders and community people that the project will kick off in weeks to achieve the set goals.

Those who received awards during the event were Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, Former Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Olororuwo of Ororuwo land, HRM Oba Qamarudeen Adeyemi Adeyanju, Prof Siyan Oyeweso, Adlad CEO, Prince Adelani Adeoye, SUBEB Chairman, Hon Ibukun Fadipe, CEO Fortunate Bread, Alhaji Abdulwasiu Adejumo, Dr Femi Adefila, and Hon Odelade Sarafadeen Olanrewaju.

The highlight of the event was the official public presentation of Lion Abayomi as the fifth president of the Osun Classic Lions Club, the induction of new members, and the installation of new club officers.

Present at the event were district leaders of the Lions Club, political associates, and family and friends of Lion Abayomi Adegoke.
