How Police Arrested Four Goat Thieves

Four men, Hassan Adamu,18; Abdulaziz Abubakar, 20; and Abdullahi Shuaibu, 25 and one other, have been arrested by the police in Gombe State over the theft of goats.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Abubakar, while parading the suspects, explained that the gang usually operated in a tricycle.

He said, “Men of the Gombe division acted on an intelligence report on a syndicate of thieves that specialised in using tricycles to steal goats from Malam Inna and Wuro Kesa communities, and selling them. They were arrested at their various hideouts; the suspects confessed voluntarily to having carried out the act.”

He disclosed that the four suspects confessed to the crime.

“Investigation is still ongoing and the case will soon be taken to court. Exhibits recovered included one tricycle and one goat.”

Meanwhile, Abubakar also paraded four suspected robbers, Adamu Mohammed, 21; Abdulmummini Saidu, 20; and Ibrahim Adamu, 19, for allegedly dispossessing four students of the Gombe Science Technical College, Kwami, of their valuables.

Abubakar disclosed that their arrest was sequel to a formal complaint received from the college principal that four of his students were robbed on their way to school.

The suspects were alleged to have conspired and attacked the victims with cutlasses and sticks.

Items taken from the students included one Gionee phone F200, valued at 14,000 with an Airtel SIM card; one Tecno Camon, valued at N9,000; one Vivo A51, valued at 17,000; one mp3 player and a cash of 500.

Abubakar stated that the suspects confessed to have committed the crime, adding that the case would soon be taken to court.

“Exhibits recovered included two sharp cutlasses, one stick, one mp3 player and two mobile phones,” he added.
