In the face of hardship and prevalent hunger, Oluwaseun Basil Alabi (OBA) Foundation, through its food bank scheme, has distributed food items to the people of Ikire and Apomu in Osun State, AMILOADED reports.

OBA foundation was launched on December 27, 2021, and had since actively given relief packages to over 22,000 people across Ikire and its environ.

Speaking at the event held on Thursday, the secretary of the foundation, Mr Gboyega Bakare, said the purpose of the foundation as set up by its visioneer was to give back to the society.

Bakare said, “Oluwaseun Basil Alabi (OBA) foundation was commissioned on the 27th of December 2021 to cater to the needs of the aged, widows, orphans, physically, challenged and less privileged in it’s immediate community.

“We offer other things like scholarships and youth empowerment and our aim is to give back to our immediate environment, having scanned through the society today especially with the current poverty rate in the country.

“We have no motive outside of those earlier stated as the visioneer is not even in the country but sends money monthly to see to the distribution of relief items to the people of the community.

“We started with about 500 people and eventually grew from 500 to 1500 and today we feed about 2000 people within the area. We might spread our tentacles but when our immediate environment is okay, we can then see to other people’s welfare.”

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Rebecca Ajimoti, while speaking with our correspondent, said she lost her husband early in life and need the relief materials.

“I lost my husband early and lost my child of 40 years as well. My husband left behind four children for me to cater for, hence my need for these food items. I am sincerely grateful to this foundation for their kind gesture,” Ajimoti said.
