Ekiti 2022: ‘Don’t Set Ekiti On Fire’, Segun Oni Warns Politicians, Gives Reason

AMILOADED MEDIA HUB POLITICS UPDATE

Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Ekiti State, Mr Segun Oni, on Friday, warned politicians not to set the state on fire by allegedly abducting SDP leaders in their homes.

Addressing newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, the SDP candidate urged political parties participating in the election to adhere strictly to the electoral laws and stipulated guidelines for free, fair and transparent conduct, devoid of violence.

According to Vanguard report, Oni alleged that there are plans to arrest SDP leaders for kidnapping, said such a move is capable of setting the state on fire.

He said: “Let us tell them that they should not set this state on fire

“We want to warn the team that has been going round kidnapping people to desist from it. We understand that some of those kidnapped are still in their custody.

Some of those kidnapped escaped from their custody. That team should be called to order, because what they are doing is illegal.

“We are still watching, we are not going to fight them. If we do, it may lead to loss of lives.

We understand that one Kayode, who was kidnapped three days ago, was being kept among kidnappers. We understand they wanted to rope him in as a kidnapper by the Police.

“Nobody will hear that and be happy. How can you pick a guy from his house and accuse him of kidnapping, even if he was a kidnapper, why can’t you wait till after the elections?

“This should stop because this country belongs to all of us. We have to call out the Chief Security Officer to the governor not to allow himself to be used to set this state on fire.

“He should stop all these arrests. Nobody should go to anybody’s house to arrest them.

We are telling them not to set this state on fire.”
