…Okocha joins legends in Doha

The five African countries that have qualified for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ will know their fate today at the Final Draw in Doha, Qatar.

African champions Senegal are among the five teams from the continent that booked their places following Tuesday night’s second-leg of the FIFA World Cup playoffs.

The four other countries that joined the Teranga Lions are the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, Atlas Lions of Morocco, Tunisia’s Eagles of Carthage and Ghana’s Black Stars that edged Nigeria out of the race.

All the 32 sides that will be involved in the tournament will be drawn into eight groups of four for the tournament that will be played in November and December 2022.

Host nation Qatar, as it is the norm, will be placed in position one of Group A of the draw.

Though Nigeria’s Super Eagles will be conspicuously missing , the country’s presence will be felt as former Super Eagles captain Austin Jay Jay Okocha has been listed among the former stars that will grace the event at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center in Qatar.

2,000 guests will attend the draws and will be led by Carli Lloyd, Jermaine Jenas, and Samantha Johnson, assisted by the likes of Cafu (Brazil), Lothar Matthaus (Germany), Adel Ahmed MalAllah (Qatar), Ali Daei (IR Iran), Bora Milutinovic (Serbia/Mexico Okocha (Nigeria), Rabah Madjer (Algeria) and Tim Cahill (Australia).
