The Family of late policeman attached to Estate Police Station, Osogbo, Rauf Fawale, who has been reportedly died after he failed to recover from injuries he sustained following attack by three men from Department of State Service in Osogbo, has finally reacted to son’s death.

Father of the deceased, Rabiu, told our correspondent that his son was attacked by three yet to be identified DSS men at Oke Fia Area on Thursday, January 14.

The 66-year-old farmer, in an interview on Monday, said his son died on Sunday while in admission at Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, where he was being treated.

According to him, the deceased had left his duty post at Estate Police Station after the day’s work, but was attacked around Government House Annex, Oke Fia, Osogbo by the DSS men.

He demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of those that perpetrated the act to prevent reoccurrence, adding that he has already reported the matter at the state headquarters of the service.

He, however, said no action had been taken on the matter after he made the report.

Wife of the deceased, Balikis, said the head of the deceased was smashed during the attack.

“My husband must have had issues with them but I am not aware of it. He was called and when he got to the area, he parked his motorcycle. I was told they were already waiting for him.

“He was attacked by the men; he was hit on the head. I was told the DSS men that attacked him were three in number. His head was smashed. Government must fish out those that killed him,” Balkis said.

When contacted, Spokesperson for the Osun Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident and the death of the said policeman.

She, however, declined further comment on the matter and pleaded for time to get more briefing on the matter.
