Court Remands Husband In Kirikiri Over Series Of Threatening Messages Sent To His Wife

 

 

 

 

 

An estranged husband was on Friday brought before an Ogba Chief Magistrate Court, Lagos, over series of threatening messages sent to his wife.

The police said the 60-year-old accused, Oje Akuna, had allegedly threatened to deal with his wife, Mrs Dele Akuna, over an alleged attempt to desert the marriage.

The police said the couple resides at Folawowo Street, Ikeja, Lagos.

The prosecutor, Kenneth Ajayi claimed that the complainant who could no longer stomach the constant threat made to her at the slightest provocation, reported a case of threat to her life to the police at Ikeja Division.

The prosecutor said the accused was arrested and taken to the station for interrogation.

The accused was consequently arraigned on a two count charge of threat to life and acts that could lead to a breach of peace.

However, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor then asked the court to give another date for hearing to enable the police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs. A. O. Ajibade, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He was remanded in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he would perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till February 4, 2021, for mention.
