We Must Give Our Children A sense Of Belonging, Says Osun First Lady, As She Hosts Them In An End Of The Year Party

 

As the Osun State first lady, Alhaja Kafayat Oyetola hosts children of the state in an end of the year party, she has insisted that they must be given a sense of belonging in governance.

The get-together held on Saturday, December 19 at the Government House Lawn, GRA,Osogbo, the state capital was in collaboration with the State Ministry of women and Social Affairs.

Speaking at the event, the first lady showed appreciation to God for watching over and protecting the children throughout the year.

She also praised all the mothers for the safety and welfare of the children despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I thank our mothers for the extra-ordinary job you have been doing in ensuring the safety and welfare of the children. The job has been made more hectic with the lockdown that attended the first wave of the pandemic.

“The challenges may be very daunting but they certainly underscore the great role of parenting. As I said earlier, the situation still calls for vigilance on our part. Let us continue to intensify the care and training of our children. We must ensure we properly supervise their academic activities when they are home,” said Mrs Oyetola.

She further urged the children to be of good behavior and shun every form of vices and behaviour that is criminal.

The first lady commended the State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola for his support on programs and policies that will enhance better life for the children. I

Barrister Olubukola Olaboopo, the commissioner for women, children and social affairs during her welcome address said the state government under the auspices of Oyetola has held the welfare, health and education of the children in high esteem.

“The State Government since the inception of Mr.Governor’s administration, holds the welfare , health, education, security, and holistic development of children in high esteem, this is why his administration includes them in all developmental agenda.

“The Governor’s administration with the solid efforts of her excellency, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola has zero-tolerance for violence and has been working assiduously to ensure gender-based violence, rape and Other social vices are laid to rest in state.

This year, despite the pandemic, her excellency insisted that our children must be celebrated and here we are today,” the commissioner stated.

The event was graced by many other government officials, dignitaries and personalities across the state including Mr Benedict Alabi, the Deputy Governor of State of Osun.

Other include Oba Abdulrasheed Olabomi aaragbiji of iragbiji, Oba Adedokun Abolarin Òràngún of Òkè-Ìlá, Baba Ifayemi Elubuibon.

Mrs Omolara Ajayi during her vote of thanks gave gratitude for the dignitaries for honoring their invites and spending time with the children.

With utmost excitement and happiness, the children engaged in fun-filled activities and educative competitions and the winners were awarded with amazing prizes. Children with Special needs were not exempted as they graced the event with their presentation.
