Three Years Blackout: Osun CSDP Presents Cheques To Esa-Oke Community For Procurement Of Transformers

 

Following the blackout that has engulfed the residents of Erinjiyan community in Esa Oke for about three years, the Osun Agency for Community and Social Development Project has presented cheques for procurement of two transformers.

The two 500kv transformers were facilitated by a son of the soil and a former Commissioner in Osun State, Architect Muyiwa Ige.

Presentation of the cheques was done by the General Manager of the CSDP, Funmi Abokede who was accompanied by the top officers of the agency on Friday.

Speaking after the presentation, Abokede said the presentation of cheque to the Community Project Monitoring Committee is in line with the agency’s mandate of entrenching development at the grassroots.

She said aim of the project is to electrify the community to boost their economies and reduce the rural-urban migration.

Abokede said, “This project is to electrify the community. We’re here today to present cheques to the CMPC to get two transformers. This will not only boost their economies but also reduce migration of able-bodied men to cities. Youths can stay back at the rural areas to practise farming and carry out other businesses.

Commending the effort of Muyiwa Ige, the General Manager called on youth to ensure that they continue the good works of their parents, stating that the legacy of Late Bola Ige is being entrenched by his son.

In his reaction, Muyiwa Ige commended the State Government under the leadership of Governor Gboyega Oyetola for coming to the aid of Erinjiyan community in Esa Oke

He said the community has suffered absence of power supply for over three years, stating that they are ready to take ownership of the facilities to ensure that it is maintained and protected

“It’s now a reality that there will be light in Erinjiyan community before the end of 2020. We want to thank the CSDP and the state government for listening to our yearnings. Our people are elated and overjoyed as they are going to have a bright Christmas.”

Speaking on the protection, Ige said, “Our people are ready to take ownership of the transformers and even the maintenance, the community will take charge. I’ll also make myself available to be part of the protection going forward.”

In his comments, the Osolo of Esa Oke and the quarter head of Erinjiyan, Chief Ojo Adebanji said his people are feeling so much happy and are appreciative of Muyiwa Ige, Osun CSDP and the state government.

The community leader said his people have been in darkness since over three years and it has affected their businesses and livelihoods.
