OAU Loses Four Students Within 8 Months

Grief and uneasy calm have pervaded the Faculty of Arts of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife as four students of the faculty succumbed to the cold hands of death in less than 8 months.

The first deceased was Mbah Anthony Chukwuemaka, a part four student from French department who died on February, 2020.

AMILOADED gathered that another part four student from French department, Olajide Stephen died on July 31st 2020.

Findings further revealed that a part two student from English department, Akinlapa Esther died on August 22, 2020.

While the Faculty was still mourning the demise of the late Esther, death struck again in French department as a part three student of the department, Marcus Olugbenga died on September 1st, 2020 after a brief illness.

However, in a statement released on Tuesday and signed by the President of Faculty of Arts Students Association (FASA) OAU, Comrade Hamzat Hammed Oluwarotimi expressed shock and sadness over the demise of the four students.

He confirmed that the students died after brife illnesses.

He however disclosed that that the association (OAU FASA) would pay them a befitting last respect by proper dissemination and uniform repost of the honorary graphic design of the deceased students due to the pandemic.

“The association wishes to pay them a befitting last respect by proper dissemination and uniform repost of the honorary graphic design of the deceased due to the pandemic.

“So, as regards this, we call on the FASAOAU community at large to join hands in executing this as these comrades and other gone comrades won’t be forgotten in the history of FASA.

“Our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased as we pray they never witness a thing of such again and also FASAOAU community at large,” the statement partly reads.
