Time For Oluwo Of Iwo To Get New Queen?

As tradition forbids Yoruba monarchs not to have a queen, there seems to be that the Oluwo Of Iwo, Oba AbdulRosheed Akanbi might have concluded to get a new queen soon.

The Oluwo has lost two women in his life. He had announced the endless love of a wife after his Jamaican ex-queen left last year following irreconcilable differences, while death took his mother away on Tuesday, August 11.

As they say, it is not good for a man to be alone. It is even worse for a king as he needs a support system and one to take care of him. Only two persons can play these roles well – a wife or mother.

Announcing the death of his mother, Suebat Amope Akanbi, on social media, the king said it was regrettable but deserved celebration. He described the late Iya Oba as an achiever who witnessed the glory of her child becoming Oluwo.

According to his Facebook post signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ali Ibrahim, titled “Nonagenarian: Rest on Iya Oba, Your Death is Regrettable But Deserves Celebration – Oluwo”

The Monach said: “I mourn the death of Iya Oba, Suebat Amope Alimi nee Akanbi “Iya Onigold”. Your passing was regrettable but we dare not question God. As a nonagenarian, I will celebrate your death because your glory shined in your lifetime.
You were an achiever. You witnessed the glory of your child becoming Oluwo. You felt fulfilled. You felt the joy and died joyfully.
May your continue to rest in peace good mother. I felt the loss but still celebrating it. You came, you saw, you conquered.”

With the loss of his mother, there will be more need for the king to have a companion – a woman who can play the twin roles of wife and mother. In other words, he needs a woman with whom he can connect and share ideas.
