The management of Obafemi Awolowo University Centre for Distance Learning has revealed the launch of a customised learning management system called e-Zone.
This was announced by the spokesperson for the centre, Adeyemi Adedeji, in a statement titled: ‘OAU Centre for Distance Learning Launches its Customised Learning Management System to Support Face-to-Face Programme during Lockdown,’ on Friday.
The centre called for more focus on e-learning by tertiary institutions to keep academics activities running amid the rampaging coronavirus
The spokesperson disclosed that despite the closure of universities, teaching and learning was ongoing for OAU/JUPEB students at the centre.
Adedeji revealed that the customised learning system is designed to ensure smooth academic activities during the period of restriction occasioned by coronavirus.
According to the statement which partly read, ” In order to ensure that face-to-face students in the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife can also continue to learn like their ODL counterparts, the Obafemi Awolowo University Centre for Distance Learning which admits the university’s four undergraduate ODL programmes, namely; the Bachelor of Science programmes in Nursing, Accounting, Economics, Digital and Agricultural Extension and Community Engineering, has launched its very own Customised Learning Management System called the e- Zone.”
“The OAUCDL e-zone images classroom activities online. It facilitates the provision of instructional materials to students in the form of online text, PDF, MS Word, PowerPoint, audio presentations and video recording of lectures. The system also allows instructors to link students to a vast array of free educational resources available on the internet.”
