BREAKING: Two COVID-19 Patients Die In Osun

 

Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola has said health workers and Benin Republic returnees are among the twelve new cases of COVID-19 cases that were recorded in the state.

Briefing journalists at the State Government House in Osogbo on Sunday, Governor Oyetola said three health workers and six Benin Republic returnees tested positive to the virus.

Oyetola said two patients among the twelve new cases recorded in the state died on Saturday, AMILOADED confirmed.

“I want to confirm that we have 12 new cases. Saturday, two of the cases died; One in Ife and one in Ede.

“The new cases include 6 from Benin Republic, three health workers, one case from Ibadan.

“Our people should stop encouraging their people to return home. Continued breach of the lockdown order will endanger the state. Imported cases from Cote D’iviore, Benin Republic and other West African countries.

Please, security agents shouldn’t compromise. Transporters bring passengers in the night. Henceforth, we will not allow lorries to come into the state at night. They claim to bring food items but they shouldn’t be bringing these items at night, only during the day.

“Compulsory use of face mask is important and every resident should wear it. We will soon distribute face mask to some residents. The lockdown is still in force.  Once a vehicle is caught at border, security agents should ask them to turn back.

“We have a problem with our borders. From Ogun state and Oyo. These are the places (Ogun and Oyo) the virus are being imported to the state. We should encourage our relations not to travel into the state for now,” the governor said.

The state Governor said contact tracing would be carried out to prevent further escalation. We have had more than 300 samples.
