Even before news broke that Osun had recorded Corona Virus, AMILOADED can report that the State Government had been proactive in curbing the spread of the novel disease in the state.
As part of it’s efforts, the state government had banned public gatherings including weekly markets and sensitised residents to maintain social distance and live healthy.
Also, the state government created an isolation centre and equipped it. A visit to the isolation centre located at Osun State Hospital, Asubiaro revealed that it has necessary equipment that patients would need.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu, who led the government delegation on the sensitization visit to the market women, disclosed the government’s decision to shut down the weekly markets.
Dr Isamotu stated that the lock down was necessary due to the fact that Osun has boundaries with some States that have cases of the COVID-19 adding that people from neighboring States patronise the weekly markets, which he said, makes Osun open to disease.
