So Sad! Five Dead, 14 Injured As Truck, Bus Collide In Ogun

Five persons including a newly-wedded wife have been confirmed dead after a head-on collision between a truck and a bus in an accident at Akila Village, along Abeokuta-Ibadan Expressway in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun state.
The accident also recorded 14 casualties including the groom, who reportedly sustained various degrees of injury in the accident that happened around 9:20 p.m. on Friday.
The Ogun Sector Commandant of  Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Clement Oladele and the Public Relations Officer of the Traffic Compliance Enforcement Corps in the state, Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed the accident.
In his statement, TRACE PRO disclosed that a truck with registration number: LAR 114YD and a yellow bus with registration number: MUS367XV were involved in the accident.
He said, the accident was caused by loss of control and over speeding on the part of the truck driver, who according to him ran into potholes and lost control.
He said 15 persons who comprised of 11 males and four females were involved in the accident. He added that two persons survived unhurt while eight persons, comprising two females and six males were injured .
However, the FRSC boss explained that a Madza bus with registration number: MUS 367 XU, conveying passengers from Ibadan to Abeokuta lost control due to dangerous driving and had a collision with the truck.
He added that the truck with no registration number crushed the passengers inside the commuter bus.
According to FRSC sector commander,  19 persons were involved in the accident that led to the deaths of five persons with 14 others sustaining injuries.
He said, “The corpses of the victims had been deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta, while the survivors were also receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, Ogun.”
Oladele said the obstruction had been cleared off the expressway to prevent further disaster.
