Peoples Democratic Party (PDP ) house of Assembly candidate in Olorunda local government Hon. Adekunle Taofeek Olaniyan has revealed plans to restore sporting activities in the local government as a way of creating jobs for youths.
In an interactive session held in Osogbo, Osun state capital. Olaniyan said “if elected as member House of Assembly, he would formulate bills to ensure that people involved in sports are supported and funded adequately, also describing as disturbing, the little support for sports by individuals, companies and Osun state government.
“Sport industry is something we must encourage. Part of my agenda is to present bills which will enable jobs creation and I see sport as an opportunity to create lots of jobs. Whenever I see energetic young men, very talented and fit, the way they played is something we must encourage and sustain.
“What is distressing is that the resources required is not a lot and when I inquired how much it will cost to support a club it was less than N5 million a year and that I am sure can be afforded by the government if there is law supporting it.
He vowed to see sports development as part of his agenda if elected House of Assembly member in Olorunda local government.
