US Ambassador To Nigeria Visits Oyetola, Charges Osun On Peaceful Conduct At Poll

The United States of America’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Stuart Symington on Wednesday visited the All Progressives Congress Governorship Candidate, Mr Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola in his Campaign Office in Osogbo ahead of the September 22nd governorship poll in Osun state.

Symington expressed conviction that the election would be credible, free and fair since Osun has been known to be peaceful.

In a statement by the spokesperson of Gboyega Oyetola Campaign Organisation, Dayo Fasola, the Ambassador was quoted as saying that the US and the international Community were following keenly electoral activities in the state.

The envoy said “It is a great honour to be here (Osogbo) once again at the Gboyega Oyetola Campaign Organisation. And to meet with the Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr Isiaka Oyetola.  It is extraordinarily important for indigene of this place to ensure they Support as all International Community are doing because they are the first and major Stakeholders.

“It is critical for them (Osun people) to know that anyone who isnt from this state shouldnt have a candidate, they should only play supportive roles, because in the end it would be just them and their generation next. They should break no branches but ensure they build bridges for a better future. This applies not just to upcoming Osun elections but the entire Nigeria hence why Osun’s trend is critical. We would all be watching with great keen interest that this goes peacefully and fairly, he concluded.

Oyetola in an interview with newsmen after the deliberations with the US Ambassador disclosed that he was happy that Governor Rauf Aregbesola and his party, the APC’s commitment to peaceful process is evident to all.

He expressed belief that the Peace which Osun State is known for would endure at all times.

Amongst other Gboyega Oyetola team members who received the envoy were Prince Bayo Adeleke, Chief Moshood Adekunle Oluawo, Alhaji Sule Aderemi, Mr Richard Tinubu, Eng Sola Oladepo, Mr Kunle Akande , Alhaji Jamiu Olawumi amongst others.
