The top student had 238 marks while the poorest scored 87 marks.

Parents also accused the head teacher of abusing them and their children.

They claimed that he had mismanaged funds meant for development. Oyugi denied the allegations.

Reports indicated that only four of the 27 candidates who sat the exams got 200 marks and above, out of a possible 500 marks.

The parents said the top student had 238 marks while the poorest scored 87 marks, equivalent to a score in one well-performed subject.

“Since he took over in 2010, the school’s performance has continually dropped. In last year’s exams, not even a single student scored the average 250 marks, with the majority scoring below 170 marks,” one of the parents said.

The officials were going into a closed-door meeting after another one chaired by the Kisumu West director of education, Albert Langat, when the fighting started.

The parents demanded that Oyugi’s deputy take over and asked the authorities to investigate the head teacher over alleged mismanagement of resources.

The parents attacked the teacher with stones and chairs. Oyugi was injured on the head as those supporting him and those opposed to his reign clashed.
