The Peoples Democratic Party Osun state chapter has congratulated the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff – led National Executive Committee on its victory at the Appeal Court yesterday 17th February which resolved the dispute over the legitimate leadership of the party and affirmed senator Sheriff as the authentic chairman of the party in the country.
The congratulatory message was signed by the chairman of the party in the state, Hon. Soji Adagunodo. In his words, he affirmed that It has been a long battle and they are glad it has now been put to rest.
The Chairman of the party in the state reaffirmed the Osun PDP loyalty to the great party and that whichever way the judgement might have gone it would have been non issue because Osun PDP executive has been settled before the factionalisation of the party at the National level and more so many leaders are in Sherif factions as well as Markarfi factions, interestingly even more .
“Following this judgement, the enemity and animosities that court cases bring within a group of people and for a political party is immeasurable and unquantifiable and it is only expected that in a situation like this, contrary to opinion that a people does not return from the courts to be friends, we should close ranks, mend fences, heal wounds and fix the broken wall to be able to play our role as opposition in a country that urgently needs a revival.
The time for true healing, forgiveness and reconciliation across the party from the state levels to the national is now and it is a task that must be done.
As a people, a group and as a party, we should embrace the things that unite us and do away with the vices that divide us.
As we prepare for the forthcoming elections in Ekiti and Osun states soonest, our chances of electoral success is higher than it has ever been as the APC continues to be rudderless in policies and continually fails the people whose mandate they took by deceit and ineptitude.
The recent court ruling is a victory for all party men and we should see this moment as an opportunity to begin again.
This is a win win as there is no victor nor vanquished.
Meanwhile, the osun state PDP remains a family following the election of the Adagunodo led state executive .
We call on all party faithfuls that are outside the fold in the state to return to the mainstream and join us in the onward March to reclaiming the leadership and governance of the state.
Finally, the time for genuine healing and reconciliation is now.
