Group Urges Governor Aregbesola To Involve Youths In Governance (Photo)


A coalition of youth groups in Osun state under the aegis of Pro-Democracy Youths has urged the state governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola to attend to the needs of the youths and involve them in the governance in the state.

Speaking at meeting with Governor Aregbesola as part of activities commemorating the annual African Youth Day, the Coordinator of Pro-Democracy Youths, Honourable Semiu Adabanija urged the governor to address various challenges facing youths in the state, especially in the areas of education and unemployment.

He noted that the current administration in the state has performed well and touched the lives of many youths positively. Adabanija lauded the Aregbesola on the achievements of his administration in the education sector.

Adabanija charged Aregbesola to do more for the youths by incorporating younger ones into his government.  He also advised the governor on the need to strengthen the mechanism put in place to maintain discipline in the public schools in the state.

Also, one of the leaders of the youth delegation at the meeting, Mr. Dayo Oderinu emphasized the need to empower the youths to be self-sustained by assisting the youths who have ideas with necessary facilities to start businesses.

Another leader of the youth groups, Mr. Bukola Idowu, specifically pleaded with Aregbesola to carry the youths along in his administration by involving them in the appointment of commissioners.

While speaking, Governor Aregbesola commended the representatives of the youth groups for seeking the welfare of youths in the state and assured them that their request would be taken into consideration.

Also present at the meeting were the State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Titi Laoye Tomori and the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti and other top government functionaries in the state.
